We at the Auwahi project strive to make a difference in the world by working to preserve and restore the incredibly rich, yet vulnerable diversity of Auwahi dry forest. Donations made to the Auwahi Forest Restoration Project will have a lasting impact on Auwahi forest. With the monies you provide, native Hawaiian trees will be planted and provided with the care necessary to nurture them to self-sufficiency. Most of the fifty-odd species of dry forest trees naturally found at Auwahi will benefit.

The Auwahi Project is proud to match private donations with federal, state, and county funds to make an integrated effort for all of Maui’s community to contribute to the future of Maui’s native forests. Each dollar donated to Auwahi Forest Restoration Project is matched at a 1:2 to 1:4 ratio.

The Auwahi Forest Restoration Project works with a small 501-c-3 non-profit called Friends of Auwahi Forest Restoration Project (FAFRP) as a fiscal sponsor to receive donations. This corporation is organized for the sole purpose of supporting the Auwahi Forest Restoration Project and prides itself on maintaining a low overhead to maximize each dollar contributed to protecting and restoring Auwahi forest.
